An adventurous school district here in our own MN is purchasing hundreds of iPads for students and staff. Over the summer they’ll be evaluating apps and deciding how to integrate the devices into their curriculum.
I think this is very forward thinking, and will save on money and trees as more textbooks are converted into electronic (and interactive!?) form. They don’t mention how much money is set aside for purchasing apps; that could end up being significant.

Hi Pete,
This is so exciting. We have been developing educational apps for our own children. We homeschool our 4, 6, and 11 year old through a Charter school. So I tried to help through app development. Now it is a family passion to continue to help educators around the world.
Just purchased our iPad last weekend and have been testing new features.
Our 11 year old is the Product Manager while the other two are QA testers… our youngest has been the Project Manager driving timelines… “Where is my train app?!?”
Cheers,
Andy, Arlene, and Family
